Tyeler's #fund4hercure

Tyeler is a beautiful, brilliant, lively and fun 11 year old. She enjoys watching movies, video games, and spending time with her four older siblings (or, more accurately, bossing them around!). Tyeler has only ever had one wish – to be a “normal” kid.
You see, Tyeler was born with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells. In SCD, the body makes sickle-shaped red blood cells that are stiff and sticky, and tend to block blood flow to the limbs and organs. This makes delivering oxygen throughout the body difficult, and causes severe pain and organ damage, and can raise the risk for infection. SCD is a lifelong condition, and the only available cure is bone marrow transplantation, which is not widely offered as a treatment (despite its 85% cure rate).
It has become increasingly clear to her physicians that their ability to treat her is limited, and they have advised the family that it is time to consider bone marrow transplantation, and that it must be done in the next 6 months to a year. Tyeler will have to undergo chemotherapy to prepare for the bone marrow transplant and will be hospitalized for approximately two months and will be at home for 6 months thereafter. A single parent, her mom will have to take a leave of absence from work, so financial support is important.
