Running the London Marathon for West Wales Poundies!
Some of you may have noticed that I have been running a lot recently, and those of you in Bristol may have been fortunate enough to see me sweating and puffing past you early in the morning.
Long story short, I’m running the (virtual) London Marathon on Sunday. Running 26.2 miles in and of itself is a lot, but combined with the fact that 6 months ago I was barely able to walk up the stairs due to sciatica, it's a pretty big deal.
There are a lot of wonderful charities that I’d love to raise money for, but I could only choose one. So I wrote my top picks on pieces of paper and pulled one out of a hat. The hat chose West Wales Poundies Dog Rescue (WWP) - the rescue centre where Kyle and I adopted our sweet dog Peaches back in October.
West Wales Poundies are dedicated to saving the lives of stray dogs in council pounds. After dogs arrive at the pound, the dogs have just 7 days to be claimed by their owners. After the 7 days have passed, if there is space available, they will come into the care of West Wales Poundies Dog Rescue. If there isn't space, they may be destroyed. WWP provide a lifeline to the pound dogs.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my dogs and animals in general, so the idea of any dog being scared, lost, abandoned or destroyed breaks my heart.
I know times are tough for everyone, but if you are able to, it would be great if you could throw a quid or two towards my fundraising target to help West Wales Poundies continue the work that they do in giving these pups a second chance.
Also as to why I’m opting to run the marathon virtually. Quite simply, I couldn't be bothered with the faff of hotels and trains when the performance aspect alone has me wetting myself with nerves!
So wish me luck, and I'll update you with how I did on Sunday evening.
Cheers, Tye! ✌
