On Tuesday March 28, 2023 a tragic shooting took place in the peaceful home of Tyesha Hall in Henrico, VA. Tyesha is a devoted single mother of 4 children and a dedicated advocate for domestic violence and mental health awareness as a QMHP in her community and has been for more than 20 years. Sadly, she has now been personally impacted by the very thing she rallies against - domestic violence.

As reported, Tyesha’s oldest son, Tiye Washington, violently shot her and two of his siblings multiple times. Thankfully, Tyesha’s 10 year old son, Caiya Ruffin, got away, physically unscathed, and called for help. However, the remaining three survivors face life threatening injuries and are all in critical condition. Tyesha, her 21 year old daughter, Nyla Pemberton, and her 12 year old son, Cantre Ruffin Jr., are desperately fighting for their lives while also mourning the tragic death of Tiye Washington, who was killed March 30th by police in Rutherford NC.

No parent should ever have to bury a child, and no parent should ever face the tragedy of being shot by her own son. Both are unimaginable and completely devastating! While this family continues to fight for their lives there are many financial burdens that still exist for Tyesha. In addition to regular expenses like her mortgage and insurance, there will also be aftercare expenses which will be insurmountable, as Tyesha and her children are expected to be under doctors’ care for months. Tyesha, has an especially long road to recovery ahead of her, including a hospital stay of approximately 4-6 months.

We wholeheartedly appreciate the prayers and love that has been extended to Tyesha and her children during this time. Many have expressed the desire to help alleviate the financial burden which will allow Tyesha and her children to focus solely on their physical and physiological healing.
