Tyler Curry Memorial Fund

This Christmas Eve, my fiancé Tyler passed away in his sleep.  It was sudden, and the shock and pain of this event has devastated his friends and family.

To me, Tyler was so much more than a romantic partner.  We first became friends 16 years ago at UBC, where we lived two doors away from one another.  We were best friends and thick as thieves for longer than we ever dated. When we lived far apart from one another, we texted, we called, we posted letters.  When we were near, he let me take “artsy” black and white photos of him, and I let him roll off his D&D campaign ideas on me. I learned to call his bluffs in card games and he learned to quell my petty irritable moods with well timed and well worded jokes. I knew every one of his girlfriends and he knew every one of my boyfriends before we dated each other. I prodded him to find out he loves Indian food, raw oysters and candied peel. He showed me how deep the world of musical theatre went and we peppered out conversations with silly references to Chess: The musical and Aida. He was there for me, 6579 miles away when my mother passed, with white lilies at the door and messages of kindness and support. I was always just a text away when things didn’t go quite right for him, or when they did. We knew each other completely inside out.  To me, it is as if part of me has been taken away that can never be replaced.  He was the brightest spark in my life and in my heart.

With this fund, his friends and family would like to honor Tyler's memory.  Tyler's place of work, Linus Tech Tips, has graciously offered to host a charity stream to help raise funds.  We want to remember Tyler as the kind, funny and gentle man he was.  The stream will be hosted through the LTT Twitch channel on January 8th, 2020.

Our goal is to fully cover the cost of a wake in BC and transportation costs to bring him back home to Calgary, AB.  Any contributions above this amount will be used to settle matters of his estate, to help support me financially, and to donate to the Alberta's Children Hospital, where Tyler spent much of his youth.

On behalf of his friends and family, we thank you so kindly for reading this, for watching the stream, and for remembering Tyler.
