Hi, my name is Kelsey Ferguson. I am fundraising for my brother, his wife, and their eight year old son.

A few days ago, my family unexpectedly and tragically lost my 4 year old nephew. My brother, his wife, and their other 8 year old son made the long drive from Michigan to Arkansas where my parents had just settled down for retirement. It was supposed to be the best family vacation and my parents were finally going to get a chance to see all of their grandchildren together. My parents had just left Michigan themselves no less than 8 months ago.

I will spare as many details as I can and say again that this was sudden, unexpected, and happened at my parents’ new home where they had just settled down. At this time, they are all in a hotel together here in Arkansas. For three days, we’ve been painfully coordinating things for my sweet little nephew to get him back to Michigan so he can be laid to rest.

I’m not sure how I’m typing this and we’re all hoping we will wake up any second. The outpouring of generosity and support from the rest of our family has been unreal. However, I know this is going to an endless road and my family will need all the help they can get. I helped my parents fit whatever we could in a few suitcases so they can go back to Michigan with my brother, his wife, and my other nephew. They all intend to get a new place to live together and try to pick up whatever pieces they can reach.

If you’ve ever grieved the loss of a child, you know the road ahead. I’m not sure how any of them will work anytime soon and where they intend to live in the meantime. My brother isn’t sure they will be able to go back to their old house. My parents don’t know when they will go back to Arkansas to get the rest of their belongings. It could be months. It could be years.

If you got this far, I hope you will consider making a donation to my brother and his family. The funds are intended to help them either get a place big enough for all of them to live or to get by while they grieve. The funeral has been graciously covered. But the dynamics of all of this and finding a place where they can all stay together will definitely be costly.

We are shattered. This is unspeakable and unimaginable. Please, do what you do to hope for others. I’ve been asking God for days to help us. Even if you can’t donate, please stay hopeful for us. Thank you.
