Tylor's Recovery fund
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Peggy and I am asking for your help raising funds for my oldest son, Tylor Charles.
Here is what we know so far:
On Christmas Eve, Tylor went to the ER for some concerning symptoms. He was experiencing numbness and tingling in his hands and feet, nausea, and his stride felt very off when walking. I rushed to Cincinnati on Christmas morning to help take care of him. By Christmas evening he was admitted to a room and his symptoms continued to worsen. He needed assistance walking, was having trouble swallowing, and had lost most fine motor function in his hands and feet. On Dec 27, he was placed on a feeding tube. All signs at this time point to Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare disorder where someone's immune system attacks its own nerves. This causes muscle weakness and paralysis.
Guillain-Barré syndrome is treatable but has a long term recovery. Things will continue to worsen for Tylor before they get better. Typically, symptoms peak 2-3 weeks after the initial symptoms. After that Tylor will need months of intense physical therapy in order to regain his muscle strength, and will most likely be in a full time medical facility for several months.
We also have had to advocate for Tylor's care. Several years ago, Tylor had back surgery which resulted in some scar tissue along his spine. This has made spinal taps difficult for his official diagnosis and slow responses from doctors. Pain management has also been quite difficult as most heavy pain relievers have potential side effects of difficulty breathing, and Guillain-Barré syndrome has about a 20% chance of putting him on a ventilator.
Tylor is a beloved brother, son, uncle, and friend. He has a quick wit and perfect comedic timing, He loves to make people laugh, and have meaningful discussions about morality and the world we live in. Tylor has a forever curious mind. He loves playing video games, and board games, and was even crowned Heroclix World Champion in 2017. He also hosted many episodes of the Heroclix podcast "Clicked off!" with close friends and fellow game lovers. Tylor comes from our family of 8 (12 including siblings in-law and nieces and nephews) and we love and cherish him more than he could ever know. We just want him to be okay.
More than anything we appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We need the strength and love right now to get through this. There is a lot of medical and living expenses ahead of us to make sure Tylor gets the best care he needs to fully recover. The immediate need is to make sure his rent and basic living expenses are covered for awhile. After that we will need to cover medical bills. Anything you are able to give, or anywhere you can share his story is so greatly appreciated.
