Type 1 diabetic child insulin pump

Hey everyone this is Kyler’s mama. Kyler has finally been approved for his insulin pump but our cost is more than we expected. We have filed this with both insurance companies and no matter which way we go we still come up with needing almost 2k to get him started on the pump for better control of his diabetes. If anyone has a little to help with cost we would greatly appreciate it. For those who don’t know Kyler was diagnosed July 8, 2020 with type 1 diabetes. Like most parents we had no warning and it came out of no where. Kyler takes a minimum of 6 shots a day but is a growing 11 year old boy so it’s normally way more than that. Bc Kyler’s pancreas is dead his body does not produce insulin at all now there for we must inject it every time he eats or drinks anything with carbs. Kyler wears a monitor to alert us to his blood sugars level at all times as well bc a type 1 diabetic sugars can change rapidly. The insulin pump alone is 5,000 plus cost of tubing and supplies to go with it. The insulin pump will work basically like a robotic pancreas for him! He tells it how many carbs he is eating and it releases the appropriate amount of insulin in to his body, so he will not require anymore injections on a daily basis!! The insulin pump always gives him a steady drip of insulin to maintain his blood sugars so that his organs are not damaged by this disease! The Technology that is available to him now days is amazing and as any parent would we would like Kyler to have the best available to him so he can live a normal happy long life ❤️ The insulin pump is good for 4 years so this is a one time cost we need help covering not something he will have every month or every year even. We are trying to get the pump for him before he goes back to school this year to help them as well. Kyler is the only child his school district has ever had with diabetes and they have done amazing helping maintain his blood sugars while at school, a pump would just be easier for them as well.
