Super Typhoon Odette (Rai), Siargao, HELP THEM

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Analyn Sulapas Mclelland and I was born and raised in General Luna, Siargao. I am so upset to hear of the devastation caused by Typhoon Odette. Looks like my hometown has literally been flattened and I want to do something, however small, to try and help. It was a beautiful island and from what I can see now looks like a war zone. I will send the money to my sister who will buy food for neighbours and building materials to help them. Locals helping locals! Money where it is needed.

Many family and relatives have lost their homes literally days before Christmas.

It may not be a big amount of money, but it will be spent by local people and for local people in Siargao.

Our General Luna in Siargao Island, known as the Surfing Capital of the Philippines IS IN DIRE NEED OF YOUR HELP. Typhoon Odette left us with nothing, but the most important thing is we are alive. WE SURPASSED A SUPER-TYPHOON, but surviving after the typhoon remain a challenge:

Diarrhea Outbreak

We have numerous cases of diarrhea in the municipality due to suspected water sources contamination after the typhoon. We need medicines, although we have supplies now, we are uncertain as to how long it will last because transportation has been irregular and supply in nearby towns and provinces is also a challenge. We need all the help available for our people to keep on surviving. Talks on how to make water safe for drinking has been conducted in different areas to curb the spread of diarrhea.

Food Security

The relentless efforts coming from the government and private sectors has been something all of us appreciate. But the vast effect of OdettePH affecting lives and livelihoods seemingly paralized our capacity to acquire more. We are in need of more food supplies so as to sustain the need of our people. Relief efforts could feed a family that only last for days.

Water

Almost all our water refilling stations were destructed by OdettePH thus there is high demand of water yet supply is very low. We need more water for our people. We call on the national government or any NGO, INGO or the private sector to provide us water treatment equipments for to boost the supply of safe water for our people.

Shelter

95% of our houses was damaged by OdettePH. Our people has no decent roof on their heads. Add to that the fact that during this month, it is rainy season. We really need assistance on improving shelter for the majority of those who are totally damaged or even partially damaged.

Power / Energy

We do not have electricity in the island since transmission lines were damaged by the typhoon. We call on people in the energy industry to help us regain power and energy through whatever means that could help us restore electricity.

Communication

Our call for the telecommunications companies, to restore as soon as possible communication lines. This is vital for the entry of a much coordinated emergency response.

The Humanitarian Community

We open our doors for all the humanitarian organizations: local and international. We seek your aid as we continue to hope for a better tomorrow.

OUR BELOVED PEOPLE

WE CALL ON EVERYONE TO BE MORE RESILIENT AND NOT TO LOSE HOPE DURING THESE TRYING TIMES. Covid-19 did not make us yield, we will all survive this and be victors of this strife. Thank you for all your help and understanding.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND PRAYERS.

BABANGON KAMI. WE WILL BUILD BACK BETTER!
