Hi everyone, my name is Max Kozlowski and my friend needs some help. Since my freshman year in high school, Tyrone Gilham has been like a brother to me. If you've had the pleasure to know "T-Y", you would find the most genuine, fun-loving, dude on earth with a smile that lights up a room.
After living and loving life around the country since high school, TY moved back home to Cleveland in April 2023 to be closer to family and started working at the Cleveland Clinic. Its been the best gift to have him home again.
Very unfortunately, on October 13th, TY suffered a life threatening episode and had to have an emergency 6 hour open heart surgery. For people who experience aortic dissection, simply surviving the event is a triumph. Had TY been in any other place than Cleveland and in the care of the Cleveland Clinic, we might not have our very dear friend...but God is good.
Recovery from this type of surgery makes two-a-day football practice in July at ole Euclid High School seem like a walk in the park. Through this struggle, T-Y has progressed in his recovery with strength, heart, and determination trying to get back to loving his life.
Because Tyrone hasn’t been at his job for year, he doesn’t qualify for short or long term disability and FMLA which means 12 weeks without a paycheck. He has exhausted his vacation and sick time and has no idea when he will be released to go back to work. Not to mention the looming hospital bills that come with open heart surgery and a 2 week stay in the hospital. This situation is becoming extremely stressful for him when he needs to be healing and resting.
I'm reaching out to friends and family, new and old to help out a friend in need. No amount is too small. Give what you can to help our brother, T-Y.
Thank you.
