Tyr's W.A.R. (Wellness & Addiction Recovery)

Tyr was the Norse god of war, and the bringer of order and justice. Our baby brother & our mother's son, Tyr Nelson Brown, not only shared a name with this god, but these qualities as well - he was always looking out for the underdog and fighting for justice.
Our hearts were broken on January 29 when he died from an accidental overdose, just shy of what would’ve been his 32nd birthday. As a family, we’ve decided to keep our brother’s spirit alive by continuing to fight for those without the tools or means to help themselves. Our first recipient will be our other brother Shea. Not only is Shea struggling with his mental health but now with the loss of his best friend, business partner, roommate and brother and the trauma of finding him and trying to save him.
And so, in Tyr’s memory, we are setting up a fundraiser to support those struggling with mental health, addiction, PTSD and tragedy. All funds raised will go directly to helping people access the mental health help they need now by covering the costs to a mental health and recovery centre, and other costs that could come with seeking treatment and getting there. In our brother’s honour this fundraiser, Tyr’s W.A.R. (Wellness & Addiction Recovery), will take place annually on his birthday - February 17.
Prices for 30 days of treatment range from $11,000 to $28,000. This is why we have chosen this amount, we also want to be able to help cover any other costs that could be associated with seeking treatment. A treatment centre will be chosen in either Alberta, BC or Saskatchewan.
Please donate so that we can first save our other brother from following down the same dangerous path and in the future other families from feeling this heartache and pain.
