Tyson’s Christmas Miracle

Donation protected

I can’t believe the events that have unfolded for my sister, Emily’s family in the past week, but it is time for me to ask for help on her behalf.

When I was 14, I wanted to join my sister on a movie date with her then-boyfriend Ty. I thought he was so funny and cool. They took me along, and we have been family ever since.

Those who know Ty know he is a giver—the type of man who comes through in a pinch, who would give you the shirt off his back without question. He’s also one of the kindest, funniest, most accepting and supportive people I’ve ever known.

Unfortunately, in the last couple of years, Ty has had some serious medical issues, winding up in the ICU multiple times, fighting for his life. Each time he has persevered, and he made the changes he needed to make to continue to live, devoted forever to his best friend and wife Emily and his three amazing kids, Celeste, Sierra and Takoda. Due to all the medical expenses and Ty’s inability to work, the family took a huge financial hit, and they have been pushing and pushing to keep their finances above water. Ty regained his strength, and his improved health surprised even the doctors. Things were finally beginning to look up.

Then a jolt was sent through our family this week. After all of his hard-won successes, Ty suffered a sudden, unexpected massive stroke. He is currently fighting for his life in yet another ICU.
We are all in shock. Tyson is the one you call when you need help, the one who will find a way to help you out of your worst situations. We are filled with sadness that he is forced to fight for his life again, especially after the tremendous efforts he made to turn his medical problems around. We are also filled with hope; the strength of his love for his family has brought him back from the brink before.

Emily and the kids are going to need some support to get through this. They deserve to focus on Ty and each other, and I am asking for help. Any amount will be so appreciated. These are the types of people who give when they can, over and over helping others; now I would like to see the same for them. The money will be used for bills, groceries, gas, and medical expenses. Emily has used up her sick time as a teacher to be there when Ty needed emergency care, so each day she misses at school is a day without any pay. She intends to continue working whenever she can, but there are days she needs to go to the ICU. Ty’s best moments since the stroke, short bursts of clarity, have all come with his family present.

Tyson wants to live. He wants to fight. In small ways he is showing us that he intends to get through this challenge. Although he’s unable to move his left side or speak, he spontaneously wrote “Will not fail” on paper when he was asked to write his name. It took everything he had to write this message to give Emily some reassurance that he is fighting. The prognosis is rough. Blood is covering a large portion of the left side of his brain. It is unknown the full extent of the injury to his brain, but we do know that he is a strong person and he will give his recovery all he has.

If you are able and feel called to do so, please donate and share this gofundme so my sister, my brother, and their kids can have a bit of holiday hope during this terrible trial.
