Incoming-Severely Injured Animal Was hit by a car on highway 4, right by the San Marco on ramp headed toward Antioch. Several good samaritans and rescuers. Were working on getting this dog off the freeway.  Unfortunately due to the conditions and chaos she was hit by a car.  Her guardian angels were looking over her because in the vicinity were two animal rescuers, A mother and daughter team that had been tracking the dog along the freeway for at least thirty minutes, And another woman who eventually drove the dog to the Emergency Vet Hospital.   Sometimes it just takes a group of women to get some done and fast. I won't traumatize you with the details of how the dog was hit and snapped off the freewby skilled hands.  What I will tell you is the aftermath was definitely traumatizing for many people who witnessed the incident. Can you imagine driving down the freeway and seeing a dog hit.  How do dogs keep getting on the freeway, well my theory is because homeless encampments are often by freewand there is an increasing amount of dogs on freeways.  This is not okay.  It causes an immense amount of danger for the animal as well as the humans involved. Anyway, The dog was taken to Sage Hospital in Concord where she will remain.  She is stable think goodness, and we'll be getting x-rays shortly.  After being hit by the car, her back end was paralyzed, so we know something's broken.  Decisions were made very quickly to take her to the vet and for us to intervene.  I've already been asked several times why I intervened in this situation and took on the burden of a huge vet bill.  Well, It's good friday isn't it...... This is the day you need to be good and do good deeds. I can tell you right now we're sitting at a couple of thousand dollars into her care. We have been told that she's sweet, about a year old, and not chipped. Per the good samaritan witnesses, she was walking along the freeway like nothing was going on.  She was trotting along back and forth and smelling everything in her path.  Why wasn't she scared on the freeway?  That's my first thought.  We decided to name her Bailey. If you would like to help bailey and her care we've sure would appreciate it.  Not every dog on the freeway needs to end up tragically.
