Justice for Manny

On Friday, January 31, 2025 Emmanuel Robert Ramirez was taken into custody at the Pima County Jail in Tucson, AZ. He was arrested for warrants on petty crimes, such as being in a park after hours and trespassing. When he was arrested he told officers he was detoxing from fentanyl, so they booked him in a detox unit. At approximately 2:50am he was in an "altercation" with inmate, Michael Litwinsky (a known violent offender) who was upset because Emmanuel was moaning during his detoxing and it was bothering Litwinsky.

What happens in between 2:50am and 2:30pm when I was notified he was in the hospital is currently unknown. I arrived at the hospital with his son, Emmanuel Jr. to find that he was brain dead, as the doctor said to us he had CPR performed on him for at least an hour. Emmanuel was connected to life support machines in order to keep him alive. They advised there was nothing they could do and they would keep him on the ventilator until family could come and say their goodbyes. At 7:08pm we did not have to disconnect the machines because he died from what we believe were the injuries caused by Litwinsky.

Now, we are on a time crunch because the Medical Examiner is already done with their autopsy, however the autopsy report will not be available until approximately 2 weeks. We do not know what that report is going to say his cause of death is. Our worry is that it might not reflect the truth because of the circumstances. As a family we are hoping to get a 2nd autopsy but it is going to cost $1,900.00 and unfortunately that's not money we have available to us. We only have the next few days to come up with the money to do have this 2nd autopsy performed before he is cremated and laid to rest.

We all know he was struggling with addiction but as of right now we have been denied by more than 10 attorneys to help us with a wrongful death case because of his "character." They want to only look at the surface and don't understand he was a person. He was a good person with good intentions that was held by the grasp of addiction. I'm not here to say he was a saint. I'm here to say he was a man that went to jail to pay for his petty crimes and wound up dead.

Currently, Litwinsky is being held on a $250,000 bond at the jail and charges have been added, however we do not know what he has been charged with but it has to do with Emmanuel's death.

All we are asking for is to help cover the costs of the 2nd autopsy. We pray those that are responsible, be held accountable.

Thank you for your time and whatever contribution you can make.
