Hello, my name is Connor McDonough. I am a senior at Moorestown High School in New Jersey. I recently traveled to Australia to compete for a spot on the U19 Australia men’s national lacrosse team. I am proud to say that I was selected to represent the team in the 2020 world lacrosse championships to be played in Limerick, Ireland this summer.
I have accomplished many things in my lacrosse career. I have won state championships and next year I have the opportunity to play Division 1 lacrosse at Towson University. With these experiences, the opportunity to play in the world lacrosse championships is one of the most amazing opportunities of my life. The World games are played every four years. Playing on this team will allow me to compete with and against some of the best players in the world. And, I will have an opportunity to have a real life experience of global community – people from all over the world with one thing in common – lacrosse.
I am so grateful for the generosity of the Australian lacrosse community. They welcomed me in and cared for me during the national tryouts. Their kindness was something very special and I will never forget them.
Now I have the opportunity to meet and compete with lacrosse players from twenty different countries and be part of a unique global lacrosse community. I know this would be a life changing experience. It’s an opportunity that will shape me as I move into college, and become a contributing member of our society.
The costs associated with competing on the Australian team are $10,000. I am not able to handle these costs on my own. I need your support to be able to cover the team, training, travel and lodging costs of this experience. Any amount that you can contribute is greatly appreciated and will make a difference. I promise to you that I will play my best and commit myself to getting the most out of this experience. And, I hope one day, I can pay it forward for someone else.
Thanks
