Funeral arrangements

Kaneza had just turned 28 years old. Kaneza was fatally shot and killed in a domestic dispute by her boyfriend in her home. Kaneza left behind a 7 year old daughter.

On behalf of the Simmons family, we would like to thank everyone who has offered their love and prayers as we embark on this incredibly difficult journey of grief and healing.

Kaneza was a kind, beautiful soul and a ray of light to anyone who was lucky enough to know her. She was a devoted friend, and loving mother to her daughter. She was just beginning to find her way in the world with kindness, humor, and love. Kaneza loved music, she was a huge crime show fanatic, she loved telling jokes, and loved a good seafood boil. She was looking forward to starting a new life with her baby and becoming a registered nurse. She was taken away from us far too soon, and we are devastated. Our family will never be the same but we will be guided by Kaneza's positivity, optimism, and joy as we learn to live with her loss.

Our family would like to send sincere thanks to the hundreds of people who've expressed their support in this difficult time. Your well wishes and prayers are deeply appreciated, have been heard and will carry us through this difficult journey. We ask for your continued prayers as our family grieves the loss of our beloved daughter in love, and focuses on celebrating her short but beautiful life.
