Jaxon Strong

Donation protected
On Monday, October 21, Jaxon was hit by a public works van on his way home from a friends house while riding his scooter. Nicole texted him a reminder to be home on time for hockey practice and when he didn't respond, she looked at his location and saw he was at the hospital. As the days pass by they are finding out more and more details.

A quick breakdown of events:
*A neighbor in the subdivision called 911 and stayed with him until EMS arrived, something I will forever be grateful for.
*The hospital thought he was 16 because of his size, but once I claimed him and told them his age, they moved him to Corewell in Royal Oak. His vitals were stable during the ambulance ride, which was a great sign early on.
*He has a fractured scapula, a fractured pelvis, and lots of road rash.
*He has some bruising on his lungs and brain - but no brain bleeds, so we are thankful for that. They are closely monitoring his brain for swelling and watching the bruises.
*There was some seizure activity so he will have an EEG for more information.
*He has no spinal injuries that they saw on the initial CT scans, but they are testing for that again today.
*They took him off his sedation yesterday and he has been working with just Tylenol for a fever he came in with yesterday.
*He has extreme head pain, so they are working on ways to manage it.
*He will be wheelchair bound for a few months while healing.

As many of you said, Jaxon is a tough kid and you are not wrong. He pulled out his own IV and it took 4 people to restrain him when taking out his breathing tube - which is something he almost did himself. He is sleeping a lot, as one would expect, and when he is awake he is able to answer questions using a thumbs up/thumbs down approach.

From Niki-"Thank you to everyone who has sent messages and talked with my family. The Jaxon strong graphic was made by his hockey family, and that will live in our family forever. You never know the true size of your village until you really need it and I all I can say is our village is huge and that is because Jaxon is a great kid."

To know Jaxon is to love him and boy is he loved.

Any funds raised for Jaxon will go towards his recovery process because he has a long road ahead of him AND making sure that Nicole can be home with him 24/7 as he heals.
