Sophia's road to recovery
Donation protected
Sophia is a beautiful, loving, happy little three-year-old. She is loved dearly by her parents, sister, family, and friends. She was recently diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma tumor. This tumor had been growing in Sophia's brain causing severe pressure on her pituitary gland and therefore causing other medical problems. After the diagnosis of the brain tumor, Sophia and her family checked into the Children's Hospital in Denver. Sophia had surgery on Wednesday (5/6/15) to decompress the cyst and to get most of the tumor out. She did well through the surgery and will be in ICU for several days. The doctors are doing a biopsy on the tumor to determine next steps. So far, we know that Sophia will need various medical treatments and in the future and life-long medication to ensure the best quality of life. Trips to the Denver Children's Hospital and/or extended stays in Denver will continue in order to provide the most advanced medical care.
Sophia has shown so much strength and faith during this process. As she went into surgery she said, "mom calm down take a deep breath... Don't worry about me I will be okay!"
Our family appreciates all of the prayers, concern, and support. We thank you for prayers, well wishes, and continued support.
