A Dunsborough family needs your help to support their 9 year old beat cancer.
Hi! My name is Catherine and, along with a few local mates of the Stops family, I am calling out to raise some much-needed funds to help towards the massive expenses they are having to pay
to be able to support their son Riley fight the return of Lymphoblastic
Leukaemia.
This reoccurrence is a huge blow to his
parents Lorene and Eli and has sent their family back down the terrible journey
to free Riley of this terrible disease once and for all.
The treatment options for Riley are unimaginably hard. However, he is the little legend to take it on and his parents are about as good as they come to support him through it.
Their own focus is singular - support Riley
while trying to make life as normal as possible for his little brother Alby.
They haven’t asked for anything, but when pressed, it’s clear that the financial burden of the path ahead is HUGE and we feel that this the last thing they should be worrying about at a time like this. A donation is also one of the few things most of us can offer them at this time.
So please give what you can to help ease
the financial pressures they are facing and share this fundraiser far and wide.
If you are local and prefer to give cash,
their friend, neighbour & fur baby (Jet) sitter Andi has a donation box at
her salon opposite IGA (cash not kept on-site).
Thanks for reading, and for any support you can offer this amazing family either by donating or sharing this page.
Outline of Riley’s current plan.
My understanding of the details are that
their oncologists have given them a starting plan that involves multiple
treatments that need to take place in Sydney and Perth for long stints at a time.
While the health system covers the medical costs and basic expenses for Riley, there are so many other essential costs that are not covered. I’m therefore
asking for donations to help towards all of those other costs Lorene and Eli
will have to pay, such as the flights and accommodation to Sydney and Perth plus
living expenses while they are supporting Riley and Alby.
Riley is undergoing CAR T-cell therapy in Sydney next week, followed by a bone marrow transplant in Perth in a few months and finally home to Dunsborough in another six months for the long recovery from these intense treatments. Initially, Lorene will be with him in Sydney
while Eli looks after Alby at home in Dunsborough. The next steps are yet to be
confirmed, but updates will be given as they are made clear.
Thanks again for any support you can offer.
