Help Sarah Merritt

Sarah is very ill and fighting hard.  She has been diagnosed with HLH and is currently in the hospital on a ventilator and has had multiple surgeries.  Sarah is in her senior year and is an exceptional student with big dreams and aspirations. This horrible disease hit her hard in July and she has been fighting ever since. HLH is a rare disorder of the immune system.   Because symptoms vary widely and can be associated with other infections, HLH is very difficult to diagnose. It is an especially dangerous disease if undiagnosed, with a fatality rate of 100% over a course of approximately 2 months, if untreated.  Patients have a better chance of survival,  the earlier they are diagnosed and treated. The longer the disease continues, the more damage the body does to itself.  If the body is too badly damaged, recovery can be difficult even when treated properly. What are Sarah's chances? - very hard to answer.....It's in Gods hands now.
      When (and I say when because we all so strongly believe she will)  Sarah beats this disease, the recovery will be a long one. She needs someone with her at all times. The money raised will be given to her mother to help her sustain her household financially since she has taken a leave from work.  Lets help her mom be able to stay by her daughters side.
