Staving off foreclosure

Hello,
I've changed the amount because I was able to request a deferment through FHA. It hasn't been granted yet. But, if it is granted all I will immediately is the $6,000-plus for the back mortgage payments.
We have lived in this little two-room cabin for almost 27 years. We are both older adults on Social Security plus temporary jobs as fill-in. We've had some financial setbacks due to medical and other expenses, and we were hit with several scams.
And with limited income got far behind in mortgage payments just trying to pay regular bills. We built part of this house ourselves (we reclaimed an old 200 sq. ft. run-down log cabin in the woods). We have four special needs pets (one needs surgery soon, about $500).
I already lived in my car while commuting for ten years to a job in New Mexico, and I'm too old for that. Because of the scams, I had to cash in my retirement from New Mexico to pay bills. Plus, everything we own is here with us, and the pets are well-cared for and avoided euthanization.
I realize this is asking for a lot, but I've sold most of everything that I can (just sold my cellphone and guitar today). Both cars are too old to bring much (20 years old and 13 years old, respectively), and we need them to get around.
Today I contacted the mortgage holder and was in tears (they had sent someone to my house with a notice--and the guy's dog almost attacked mine and urinated on my porch), and I was in tears trying to find a way to keep our house.
Thank you in advance.
