Medical Bills for Kevin Gaskell

Hi everyone! I am creating this GoFundMe for my step dad Kevin, and my mom April. Late last year (2022) Kevin started getting pain in his hips but assumed it was from aging, and then mid October they scheduled a doctor visit because the pain became unbearable to the point that he was feeling as if he was going to pass out. He then found out he has Avascular Necrosis in both hips, which in simple terms is the death of bone tissue due to lack of blood supply. This is resulting in him needing to replace both hips.

His surgery is scheduled for February 13th of 2023. As of right now he is only getting his right hip replaced, and he will be getting the other replaced later on this year, or next. They are expecting to pay $5k for medical bills. However he has to be off of work for approximately 4-6 weeks, but he will need evaluations after the fact to determine when he’s able to return. His job is unfortunately not covering the time off so we’re asking a little extra just so that my parents can focus a little more on recovering and also making sure they have a good amount to help with the kids and keeping afloat on bills. My mom is disabled and hasn’t been able to work in a couple years so they will both be off work at this time making it harder money wise.

A little about Kevin: We all know Kevin as the funny outgoing guy that he is. He has 3 kids: Dayne, Tyson, & Laynie. He is a mailman so he is required to walk excessively for work. He also grew up in Oscoda, and returns there as often as he can in the summer. His entire family loves boating and water sports. He’s very involved in Tyson’s wrestling, he drives him to all his wrestling matches, helps with coaching, and never misses a practice. He’s helped so much with getting Laynie comfortable with the water, trying to teach her to swim and if you know laynie you know she’s a handful and has constant energy. Unfortunately with this pain and the surgery it will make it hard for him to do all of the things that he loves. I’ve known Kevin since my teenage years and he’s always been so helpful in stepping up to make sure I had what I needed. He’s been a great parent, a family member, and friend to those around him.

All donations will 100% go to medical bills and bills for the house. They will go straight to my mom and Kevin. I’m hoping to make this year a little easier on them as this was definitely not an expected procedure. They’ve both done so much for me and all I want to do is ease their stress even if it’s just a little bit. Donations are not expected but greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support!
