School Trip To Portugal

Hi, my name is Atreyo and I am raising funds to help the students in my school. I am a social worker in a school district that ONLY services students with special needs. Our school district takes pride in trying to offer opportunities that special education students typically do not have in public schools, because of their educational struggles. Last year we brought a group to Germany and Poland for 5 days (see profile picture).

We have arranged a 4 day trip to Portugal in February, 2024 and we need to raise funds to assist the students. The majority of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch and have never travelled before. We support the students with everything from purchasing luggage for them to providing all meals, tours, lodging and expenses. The students are asked to pay a small co-pay, but they are not excluded from the trip if they cannot pay it. The cost of securing a passport is the most some of our families can afford.

The school district I work for is amazing, in that they pay for all educational expenses such as museums and historical walking tours etc. However, state regulations do not allow the school district to pay for other expenses such as food, luggage, lodging, transportation and misc expenses.

This is why I am helping raise money for the students. We choose the students that have worked hard to overcome the obstacles life has thrown their way. We have taken (and will continue to take) students in foster care, residential facilities, on probation and / or homeless youth. The criteria to be selected is simply a committment to better yourself and some concrete proof that you have been trying to while attending our school.
