Greg’s Brain Tumour Journey

Hello Everyone!
I wanted to start this fundraiser to provide support for Greg and Olivia. In early January, Greg was unexpectedly diagnosed with a very large brain tumour, known as a craniopharyngioma. After facing many challenges in navigating through the healthcare system since October 2021, Greg was quickly hospitalized for urgent brain surgery. He had a poor prognosis due to the size and location of the brain tumour. After a 12 hour invasive craniotomy, the tumour was successfully removed. Greg was recovering very well despite having complex endocrine issues, which kept him in hospital for 7 weeks after surgery. The week where Greg was finally expected to be discharged from the Rehabilitation Centre, he was sent for another stat MRI and was readmitted to the Ottawa Hospital.
Greg sadly had to undergo a second surgery due to a severe infection that occurred intraoperatively. Due to the infection spreading to Greg's skull, removal of his skull was necessary, and he will now be undergoing a third surgery (cranioplasty).
This devastating and unpredictable situation has left Greg and Olivia in a whirlwind of emotions and uncertainties. They have faced many challenges over the last few months, including fertility preservation measures, weekly tests and doctor appointments, medical expenses, and the cancellation of their upcoming wedding this June. I am starting this GoFundMe because I see a lot of people who love Greg and want to help him through this challenging time. Currently, as Greg is waiting for another surgery, there are many unknowns regarding when he can return to work, when he'll be able to drive again, and how long his recovery will take.
As many of you already know and have seen, it is an understatement to say that Greg has had an incredibly inspiring, strong, and positive attitude throughout this process. Much of this can be attributed to the amazing support and encouragement that Greg and Olivia have been receiving thus far. Thank you to everyone who has been there for them during these difficult times.
