Green Jobs for Grays Harbor

In October 2015 North Beach Community TV will be hosting the first annual Green Jobs for Grays Harbor Summit and we need your help to fund this worthwhile event.
Grays Harbor is an economically disadvantaged area located in Western Washington. As an economically disadvantaged area, we are vulnerable to any endeavor that might bring the promise of jobs to our area. Many of our elected officials think that allowing Big Oil to transport highly volatile Bakken crude oil through our communities, by rail, to our port is a great idea. We, the people, don't think so. (Please watch our video)
This event is designed to bring together local citizens and elected officials with entrepeneurs, innovators, and industry leaders from Green industries. We want to show our citizens and elected officials that there is an alternative to bringing these deadly oil trains to our community.
According to wikipedia, “green technology (greentech) or clean technology (cleantech) is the application of one or more of environmental science, green chemistry, environmental monitoring and electronic devices to monitor, model and conserve the natural environment and resources, and to curb the negative impacts of human involvement. The term is also used to describe sustainable energy generation technologies such as photovoltaics, wind turbines, bioreactors, etc. Sustainable development is the core of environmental technologies. The term environmental technologies is also used to describe a class of electronic devices that can promote sustainable management of resources.”
Thus far, we have been funding this project out of our own pockets, but now it's time to take it up a notch. We have rented the Ocean Shores Convention Center to hold this event, but there are still many expenses that need to be covered. We estimate that it will take $25,000-$30,000 more to do this right. We also plan to video record this event and make the video available to other communities that may want to take similar action.
Please help us by funding our campaign so that we can change the way that we develop jobs in our community.
North Beach Community TV, is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, that broadcasts local events over our local cable network and organizes events that benefit our community. All donations are tax deductible.
