Goora Gan Steiner School - New School Build

Goora Gan Steiner School in Agnes Water Queensland, is building a new, permanent school for local students, with land purchased and architectural plans developed.

Founded in 2015 and named by Gooreng Gooreng Elder Uncle Merv Johnson, Goora Gan Steiner School is an independent primary school, accredited for Classes Prep-6.

With 60 enrolled students and a full waiting list, the school offers an integrated approach to education which develops the whole child – head, heart and hands, and is based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. The curriculum is rich in life skills; balanced in academia, movement, nature, and the arts; and supports the ongoing development of children as responsible, confident contributors who are able to be of service in the world.

Through its founding years, the school has been blessed with the support of the local and wider community, and is deeply grateful for temporary homes in the Agnes Water Community Hall, and Agnes Water Surf Lifesaving Club. The school is ready to build a new, permanent home, and continue to live into the dream of its founders.

The school is aiming to raise at least $1 million for the build. Can you help us?

Examples of how your financial support can assist us includes:

$50 to establish a tree in the permaculture garden, providing shade and enriching the soil

$150 for equipment for the children’s kitchen garden, encouraging a love of healthy food

$500 for nesting boxes for local wildlife such as the endangered Coxen’s fig parrot

$5000 for a water tank to ensure our children have access to clean rain water

$10,000 for water collection for essential services such as fire fighting
