Save our Sanctuary, we need to find a new location
You can make a difference to people and animals today by donating to Idlewild Animal Sanctuary. Idlewild Animal Sanctuary is a registered charity based in the Conwy Valley, covering all the North Wales and wider area. We provide care to a variety of animals through the rescue, rehabilitation, release and rehoming service in addition to providing a safe haven for animals that need lifelong care. We assist a range of people through our volunteering programme providing a therapeutic and educational resource. We promote health, wellbeing and mindfulness regarding living a kind and cruelty free life. Volunteering with us greatly helps our volunteers combat loneliness and isolation. Many of our volunteers have mental health disorders and learning difficulties that have meant they have found it hard to fit in other sectors; by providing the right supported environment they are able to thrive. Some of our volunteers did not leave the house until they started with us and we are a lifeline to over 50 people currently. We, along with our animals, welcome our volunteers with open arms. Our animals love our volunteers and without them we would not survive.
We have been given notice that our lease will not be renewed when it comes to an end in 2026 and we urgently need to raise funds to try and buy somewhere to ensure our animals remain safe, loved and looked after and just as important, that our volunteers have a place where they feel safe, valued and appreciated. Without your help we will have to close and that will not only mean splitting up bonded groups of our special animals but it will also mean that our amazing volunteers will have nowhere to go, which will certainly affect their mental and emotional health and wellbeing. This cannot be allowed to happen, there is too much at stake. Please help us protect our animals and volunteers. Every donation counts and takes us closer to our target. It is a big ask, but with your help, we CAN do this.
All monies raised will be used towards firstly the purchase of the land (around £500,000), all permissions needed, legal fees including all Government taxes, ensuring the land is suitable for the animals (fencing secure), buildings watertight etc and the move itself (approximately the remaining £100,000). If we are not able to buy then we will have to look at renting somewhere whilst we continue to fundraise to enable us to buy in the future. If this is not possible then all monies raised will be spent arranging for our animals to be rehomed wherever possible, be it with individuals or other sanctuaries.
