New Vehicle for Homeless Single Mom

2.5 months ago, I met a homeless single mother and her 2 children in a coffee shop parking lot. What started as a "crazy" spur-of-the-moment decision to invite strangers over for a hot dinner has turned into a beautiful life-altering friendship.
After unexpectedly losing her job of 4 years (with a glowing recommendation from her manager), my sweet friend quickly lost her apartment and then her car.
This mom and her girls are now living with my family until she regains the ability to care for herself and her girls independently. Since moving in, she has consistently done everything possible to show how motivated she is to rebuild her life.
With a stable address and superb free childcare (smile), she quickly got a new job and works 5 days a week while cleaning houses on her off days. She's a very responsible employee and mother and has become an integral part of our household.
In order to continue making progress, my friend needs to get a car. Right now, she is completely reliant on me for 100% of her transportation needs (taking her to/from work, her daughter to/from school, and anywhere else they need to be (grocery store, doctor appointments, interviews as she looks for a better job, etc.). I don't mind the sacrifice, but this is not sustainable long-term.
If you know me well, you know that I love spreadsheets, and I've run the numbers every which way. She simply does not make enough money to buy a car AND live - even while staying with us. The location of her job, the timing of her shifts, and the bus schedule prevent the bus from being a feasible option. She needs transportation, and I'm reaching out to ask my friends & family if you'll help her.
They will be living with us for at least several more months, and my husband will be helping her wisely purchase the most reliable car possible with the funds collected.
