Help Save the Upstate Artists Guild !
Donate to keep our community art and performance space on Lark Street!
If Lark Street is the Heart of Albany, then the UAG (Upstate Artists Guild) is its heartbeat. This organization and its central location in our neighborhood has played a crucial role in making Lark Street a haven for arts and culture in Albany for over a decade, providing artists of all styles and methods a welcoming and economical space to display, perform and share their artistic expression with the community. UAG is also the coordinator, promoter and champion of the monthly art and cultural event, Albany 1st Friday. The UAG is a not-for-profit, fully tax deductible 501c3 entity and has always been run solely by its volunteer members. Unfortunately, the current location has presented a number of different problems that are not within the UAG's immediate financial means to fix, due to a small budget this year. This has led the UAG to the decision that unless sufficient funds are raised within the coming months, it will be forced to relocate.
Part of the reason UAG has been so successful and important within the Albany community of artists, is its location on Lark Street in Center Square. This neighborhood provides instant access to one of the biggest and most progressive arts community in the Capital District, filled with young artists who need spaces like the UAG in order to branch out and grow.
We ask that you give whatever you can to help UAG meet its goal and remain open in the coming months. Even if you cannot give much, every little bit helps. Every year, UAG impacts thousands of young artists, musicians, and people who appreciate music and the arts. If everyone who went to a UAG art exhibit, music event, or First Friday event donated just a couple dollars, that's all it would take to save UAG.
