#KYLIE STRONG#

Hey everyone, This is Stephanie. As many of you know, Kylie was admitted Helen Devos Children's Hospital on July 3rd. After receiving, lab results and ultrasound results, it was discovered she had a severe staph infection in her right hip and left knee. Her first surgery was July 4th followed by another July 8th, where 5 drain tubes were left to continue to drain the fluid. We received the news that the infection got into her blood stream and were devastated. Luckily here ECHO showed the heart was clear. It was very touch and go there for about 48 hrs. Plus she had to spend her 13th birthday in the hospital as well. Her numbers were slowly improving until Friday. It was then discovered, Kylie had COVID on top of everything else. Her drain tubes were also taking out that day. She was given a PICC line Friday afternoon. She will come home with that due to having to be in IV antibiotics for an additional 4 a weeks, which I will administer. She will have weekly labs where they will be able to draw the blood directly from that line. She will receive in home OT and PT 2xs a week for many weeks as needed. She will be in a wheelchair until doctors feel comfortable with the strentgh of her bones in the infected areas. Due to her needing someone with her at all times for the next 3 to 4 months, I will be taking FMLA. Unfortunately, that secures my job but does not pay me. But, I am able to take it intermittently. As well as my short and long term disability, ONLY COVER MYSELF. After speaking, with insurance there will be quite a bit of out of pocket charges due to the extent of her after care. With that being said, any little bit will help during this unfortunate time. All funds will go to Kylies after care medical bills and living expenses. Even if you can not donate, sharing is just as helpful. We want to thank our entire support team that spans thousands of miles. We have a very long road ahead of us. There's no doubt in my mind that Kylie will be crushing goals on no time. Thank you all once again.
