Ashlyn's Surgery
Donation protected
Hey Everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to come by and help out our dear friends, Mike and Julie Putnam. As many of you may have heard Mike and Julie’s daughter, Ashlyn, was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation Disease.
If you have never heard of this, let me give you a brief rundown of what sweet Ashlyn is going through. Chiari malformation (kee-AH-ree mal-for-MAY-shun) is a condition in which brain tissue extends into your spinal canal. It occurs when part of your skull is abnormally small or misshapen, pressing on your brain and forcing it downward. Some symptoms which are associate with Chiari Malformation are: Neck pain, unsteady gate, numbness in hands and feet, headaches, dizziness, speech problems, vision problems, weakness, episodes of passing out, and many more.
These symptoms sound daunting for an adult, but yet Ashlyn takes these on like a superhero daily. You would never be able to tell by her sweet, shy, loving personality that she suffers from such condition and experiences these conditions almost daily. You can't contain this amazing girl and this condition surely isn't going to slow her down.
Ashlyn was recently seen in the hospital and was recommended for immediate surgery. This surgery is going to try and help alleviate the pressure on her brain and help relieve some of the symptoms she is experiencing. This surgery doesn't mean she will be cured from the condition, but it may help relieve symptoms she deals with on a daily basis providing her with a better quality of life.
As a parent we grimace at the sound of surgery for our children, with hopes of bettering their daily lives and well-being, we can only make the best decisions possible for our children. That is exactly what Mike and Julie are doing for Ashlyn.
You may know that Julie is a full-time daycare provider who loves on children daily (ours included). Julie devotes her days to watching and providing for children and ensuring they feel loved and cared for. Also, Mike is either protecting the community in his work capacity or at home helping Julie with the daycare kiddos. If you know them personally, you know that they both give so much of themselves to everyone and they are the first to help someone in need. Well, it is our turn to focus on them. Our hope is to relive some of the financial burden so that Mike and Julie are able to focus solely on Ashlyn and comforting her in her recovery. During this time Julie will have to stop watching childcare children and Mike will be taking time off work. This GoFundMe will help support any income lost for childcare. It will also allow for medical fees, food, and activities for Ashlyn's recovery to be made. Our goal is set at 5,000 but that doesn't mean we can’t raise more. Please blow this goal out of the water and show Ashlyn how much we care.
Please donate what you can to this amazing family and make this journey for the Putnam's less stressful. If you cannot donate funds we are also starting a meal train (Link Below). Please spread the word! #Chiarisucks #Teamashlyn
