Samuel's Omphalocele Repair
Spende geschützt
Samuel is 5 years old (and has a little brother named Finn) and was born with Pentalogy of Cantrell, which includes diaphragmatic hernia, mutliple cardiac abnormalities, cleft sternum, omphalocele and chronic lung disease. These boys are so delightful! Samuel spent much of his first year in the hospital and the family often thought that he would not survive. But, through the power of God, Samuel turned 5 in May! However, Samuel still has a long road ahead of him. He is still on oxygen and the family does not feel he can receive the care he needs in Norfolk, Virginia. Samuel's case is extraordinary as his omphalocele still needs to be repaired. After extensive research, Hannah has decided that the Children's Hosptial of Philadelphia (CHOP) is the best place for Samuel to receive his needed care and repair. The entire process, including assessment, surgery and follow-up appointments will reqire multiple trips over the course of a year.
Hannah is a single mother and unable to work due to being a full-time care giver to Samuel and Finn. She must take Samuel to various medical appointments including specialists, speech and occupational therapies. There will be multiple expenses incurred and Medicaid has already turned them down once. Hannah is now getting letters from medical professionals to support going to CHOP and hopefully get an approval from Medicaid. Even if the surgery is covered by Medicaid Samuel's family will still have a lot of out of pocket expenses, such as travel expenses, living expenses, and medical co-pays. Any help you can give will assist Samuel with getting the surgery he needs in order to live a more normal life, free from his dependence on oxygen and his medical difficulties.
He deserves to have a normal childhood where he can run around or play ball with his little brother Finn without having to worry about always being connected to oxygen. Please do what you can to allow Samuel to do all the fun things that 5 year old boys do.
How can you say no to this handsome little boy?!
Thank You!
