Team Maddie

This is Maddie! Maddie is 8 years old and lives in Reno, NV with her mom and big brother.  She is a sweet, vibrant little girl who is full of energy and apart of our family (on my husbands side) A couple of weeks ago she began to have a headache. Her headaches became so severe she was throwing up. She could not keep anything down. Trina (her mom) took her into the ER in Reno. They gave her an IV for dehydration. She was later that day sent home. Maddie continued to feel worse and on Tuesday Trina then took her again to the ER. This time Maddie's left eye appeared to not be functioning correctly and she was having neck pain. The doctor then requested they do a CAT scan where they later found Maddie had swelling and fluid on her brain.. Trina had one hour to gather some personal items for herself and Maddie and they were then transported to Las Vegas. Once they arrived in Vegas, the initial plan was to drill into Maddie's skull and place valves on her brain that would drain out through her stomach. Unfortunately durning the MRI they found a very large mass on her brain. They also believe she has meningitis. So they then drilled a hole in her skull to do a biopsy of the mass and were able to drain some of the fluid in her brain to relieve some of the pressure she was feeling. As of today we are currently waiting on results from the biopsy which hopefully will be on Monday. Unfortunately because  of all these unexpected circumstances Trina is unable to work. They are hours from their home and belongings. With family being spread across  the country it makes it very hard for us to help and be there with them.
