Uber Driver Viciously Assaulted By Passenger

On Saturday, September 20, 2019 I received a phone call from who I thought was my Father. The time was 5:26am. I immediately answered the call and it was a Police Officer. The first 2 things that he said to me were, “Your Father is ok.” and “We have the other guy in custody”. 
I immediately became worried. My dad drives for Uber. All I could think of is that someone had done something to my dad or his car.  I rushed to the scene. My dad had already been taken to the hospital so I couldn’t talk with him. I picked up his car and immediately went to the hospital that my dad had been taken to. 

My dad was viciously attacked by the passenger in his car. The man who attacked my dad was not the passenger my dad was supposed to be picking up. Upon arriving to pick up said passenger, My dad noticed and altercation. Following the altercation the man ran to my dads car. My dad asked if the man was the passenger who ordered the Uber. The man said yes and proceeded to get in. While driving, my dad overhears the man’s phone conversation and begins to realize that the man is not the passenger who he was supposed to pick up. The man was not who he said he was. From there my dad politely let’s the man know that he can’t proceed because he is not the correct passenger. The man becomes enraged and begins verbally assaulting my dad. They are pulled over at this point. The man gets out. My dad is still in the car and it’s locked at this point. Seconds later, the man returns to my dad’s car and begins attacking the car. He then again walks away. My dad sees that the man is returning for another time so he gets his walking cane to defend himself and his car. The man took the cane from my dad and begins to viciously beat my dad. My dad is now on the ground screaming for help while this man continues his assault on my dad. Now stomping on him as well as beating him with the cane. After some time, the man stopped beating my dad and realized he should help him up. My dad said he was too weak to stand By that time, the police had arrived and apprehended the man and then assisted my dadto the hospital. 

Uber is my dad’s only means of income. He was crippled 12 years ago. He underwent spine surgery that resulted in him having a metal plate in his back as well as constantly having to be medicated. This man who attacked my dad has worsened those injuries as well as created many new ones that will prevent my dad from working and being the great father and grandfather he just a week ago was capable of being. 

If you have it in you, please understand this situation and lend a helping hand so that we may at least assist my dad with his hospital bills. He will be in the hospital for quite some time because of this.
