Road to adoption
Donation protected
Hi Everyone.
Many who read this may already know that Valerie and her family have had a two year old child under their care since the beginning of 2022. What many may not know are the events leading up to this point and the effect is has had on their family.
Valerie offered to help a woman in need of childcare in January of this year. It was presumably for the day, but after speaking with her to coordinate the pickup, the mother informed Valerie that she was no longer fit to take care of her child. In an attempt to help the mother get back on her feet, Valerie and her family cared for the child with no monetary expectations. They provided a home, fed, clothed, enrolled her in school, and coordinated the child’s sorely outdated medical needs. Early in the arrangement, the mother initiated a call to CPS for help stating she was no longer capable to care for her child. They did an investigation and visited Valerie’s home to check on the child. They closed the case after determining Valerie’s house was a safe place for the child, and denied any financial assistance to Valerie’s family. CPS encouraged the family to “help out of the kindness of their hearts or refer the child to foster care”.
Valerie and her family feel that adoption is the best option for the child at this point, as she has become a member of their family. The child is beginning to thrive in their environment and their church-assisted pre-school program; a complete turn around from the child’s mental and physical state when she first entered their care. The family strongly feels it is in the child’s best interest to move to adoption, as the only other option at this point is an uncertain future in the foster care system.
This is where we need your help. The family is hoping to raise money to help cover the cost of legal intervention for her adoption process, the financial distress of four months without work while Valerie had to tend to the child at home, and also providing any necessities the child may need going forward for a healthy and happy future.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
