Uche's Mt.Killimanjaro challenge for Compassion UK
Donation protected
Join me in making a difference? This February, I am raising money to benefit Compassion UK Christian Child Development and Angel Rays Foundation by climbing Mount Killimanjaro . I invite you to contribute towards this challenge and every donation will help to make an impact.
"Pity cries, and then goes away but Compassion stays” is my motivation for this challenge.
I believe life doesn’t owe us anything but we can make a difference to the world with acts of compassion for people in need, especially our vulnerable children living in poverty. Our compassion is the promise of their hope renewed.
It is the same hope and optimism that I had 12 years ago when I set up Angel rays foundation with a simple but personal approach to help provide basic human needs for survival like milk, clean drinking water and improved infrastructure like water pumping and storage tanks to motherless babies orphanage in Enugu, Eastern Nigeria.
Compassion UK is a leading child development charity. They work in partnership with local churches in developing countries to release the most vulnerable children from poverty.
Getting involved in this challenge is far greater than me but makes my heart sing as each step I take to reach the summit is a reminder of that child who will benefit. I have never really been a gym or outdoors kind of person but I lost my dear dad recently and was overwhelmed with grief. I never thought myself capable of such despair. Grief is like an ocean, it’s deep and dark and pain is like a thief in the night. Sometimes, for most of us, life kicks us around, it scares and beats us up and we have to live through grief, disappointments, lost hopes and dreams but we all have that one thing we will fight for and there comes a day that we realize that we are not just a survivor but a warrior and tougher than anything life throws our way.
To complete this challenge, I will find the will power to get out of my comfort zone and fight to become the warrior that I know I can be, for our children living in poverty and their promise of hope renewed.
I am not optimistic that what I’m doing is going to be sufficient but I’m asking you to help me to keep scratching at the surface and one day, one child’s life at a time, it will be deep enough to make a big difference.
Please share my story to raise awareness for Compassion UK and Angel Rays Foundation.
Thank you all for your generosity and support to this cause that means so much to me.
