Uchenna's Harvard Journey For Societal Impact
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Esteemed Supporters.
My name is Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu, and I stand as proof that education can make a big difference in both local communities and society as a whole, from the humble beginnings of assisting my widowed mother, who is a village primary school teacher, in making her lesson notes and seeing her struggle for money for our primary education tuition in Southeast Nigeria to currently actualizing Harvard University education almost a decade after I have pursued the cause of community STEM education programs and project in Nigeria.
My life has been dedicated to empowering children and Youth from my community through STEM education.
My commitment to the services is dedicated to my personal life story.
Seventeen years after my university graduation, I have channeled my energy into training and nurturing over 25,000 students, mainly the girl children in STEM, to help prepare them for the Future of Work.
As a reflection of this, my work in STEM education for Girls got a global spotlight when in 2018, I led a team of five Nigerian girls to win a global gold medal award at the world Technovation Challenge in Silicon Valley in San Francisco, USA. This feat reflects the girl child's potential when properly inspired, mentored, and educated. The most incredible winning of my life is working with the unserved community, bridging the gap in tech education.
Why Leaders Need a Big Hug
As leaders, we are admired for our achievements and a charisma that inspires others.
Yet under this perfect appearance, there's a hidden story.
People often think of us as strong and never making mistakes, but it's overwhelming because they don't understand the burden we carry with those expectations.
We have mastered the art of guiding others, solving problems, making tough decisions, and focusing on helping others succeed.
However, in doing so, there has been a cost – our problem will be left unsolved.
We forget so quickly that we are also human, vulnerable to the same trials and tribulations as anyone else, neglecting our need for the oxygen mask – the metaphorical self-care and acknowledgment of our own needs.
This hesitation reminds me of my journey.
I kept my problems to myself for a long time, thinking that being a leader meant I had to be strong and perfect.
The tuition, accommodation, and living expenses remain significant despite securing scholarships and part-time work.
The total cost for my Harvard journey stands at $95,000. With $57,000 already secured through scholarships, awards, and savings, I am faced with the challenge of raising the remaining $38,000.
Travel Expenses to designated 5 STEM Learning Labs within the U.S. as part of learning Exploration for possible designs, models, and approaches for Mobile STEM Education & Learning Lab that can be replicated in a Resource Limited Setting = $10,000. ( Not sure if this is possible again )
Update: $38000 Needed
I am reaching out to solicit your help to bridge this gap.
This is a call for support from those who believe in the transformative power of education to create a better society. Your generosity in donating and messages of support is not just a gift to me but an investment in addressing the present challenge of the lack of a functional approach to preparing most of our students in public schools with adequate STEM skills for the future of work.
I invite you to join me on this transformative journey. Your support will echo through the classrooms of Nigeria and in the hearts of children whose dreams you are helping to fulfill.
With your support, we can turn this vision into the reality of creating a brighter, more innovative future for education in our communities.
Let us make history.
Let us inspire!
Let us lead the way for excellence in Education.
Thank you.
