Post Cancer Surgery Treatment Funds
My baby sister, Uche Ndigwe was diagnosed of a rare form cancer (Osteosarcoma) on November 2019.
It’s been a journey. I don’t really know how best to tell this story but above all I thank God for life and grace. This experience has thought me enough about life and people. I’ve learnt well.
I remember receiving the news while I was on set shooting for Zara. I felt my soul break into a billion pieces. I took the first flight to Nigeria to handle the situation, just to hear the doctors say they would have to amputate my 13 years old baby’s leg.
Apparently she hadn’t walked in months, the cancerous tumor bulging out of her knee, fucked up her ligaments, it was a gnarly sight & in that moment I lost my mind. I had no prior idea this was happening at home.
I tried more consultations in Nigeria, it was pointless and useless as expected. Nobody was amputating my sister’s leg on my watch.
After consulting a foreign hospital representative, I got my Uche and my mother visas and flights to one of the best hospitals for cancer in Bangalore, India.
The treatment lasted over a year, over 10+ cycles of chemotherapy, a 30% chance limb salvage surgery that lasted almost 12hrs, a cosmetic surgery, plus the world came with COVID-19.
I was always exhausted in every way. I really put my everything on the line, i sacrificed my dreams, I would’ve sold my soul, I showed up, I worked, i smiled, I cried, sleepless nights. My sisters life depended on me, everything rested on my shoulders but God doesn’t give you a cross you can’t carry. Tell the naysayers, I did it!
As I always said to her, “Nothing is happening, I’m always here for you” and she’ll always reply “you’re the best brother in the world, God bless you” this gave me all the strength I needed.
I personally and proudly paid the bills over thousands of dollarsssss and Uche is back home in Nigeria again after a year plus, she’s walking, she’s talking, she’s eating, she’s very healthy.
Uche was so strong for all of us, she didn’t believe for a day that she had cancer and my family and I are just so happy that everything is fine now.
The real MVP is my legendary mother who stayed by her side through all the trials and tribulations. God bless you mum thank you for holding us all together in those tormenting times. The values you instilled in us helped us climb this mountain and conquer it together as family. To think that the first time I’d fly my family out of the country would be for something like this. But still I count it all... BLESSINGS ✨
I’ve taken advice from a very wise group of people and in light of the current situation of the world asking for help isn’t a bad idea.
So I’ve decided to come here and ask you, my guys, Please donate to Uche’s GoFund Me to help with her post surgery treatment and keep ups and also she can’t wait to go back to school so please run some dollars in the ting. .
Nothing is too small or too big. In anticipation, I thank you all. Thanks also to those who already donated. Love ❤️
