Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,
MSU UCI and MSA UCR stand in solidarity with our Black, Muslim and non-Muslim, brothers and sisters and we urge our community members to engage in the critical work necessary to combat institutional and systemic racism and to aid those affected by it. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress of the distressful aspects of this world, Allah will rescue him from the difficulties of the Hereafter. Whoever alleviates [the situation of] one in dire straits who cannot repay his debt, Allah will alleviate his lot in both this world and in the Hereafter. Whoever conceals [the faults of] a Muslim, Allah will conceal [his faults] in this life and the Hereafter.” (Muslim)
As we seek to better our society for future generations, it is important for us to work towards creating long lasting and effective change. We believe that the support of organizations with the vision and resources to enact such changes is imperative in achieving tangible and significant progress. That is why we are helping to raise funds for Islah LA, Believers Bail Out, Black Lives Matter Movement, and The Advancement Project.
Islah LA - An inner-city community center founded by Muslim-Americans that strives to renew faith, education, unity, family, civic engagement, and economic empowerment in South Los Angeles
Believers Bail Out - A community-led effort to bail out Muslims in pretrial incarceration and ICE custody. Believers Bail Out hosts fundraising iftars and teach-ins across the country to support efforts to abolish money bail and to raise awareness within Muslim communities on the injustices of the bail bond system, immigration bonds, and the broader prison-industrial complex of which they form part.
Black Lives Matter Movement - A global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes
Advancement Project National - A next generation, multi-racial civil rights organization. Rooted in the great human rights struggles for equality and justice, it works to fulfill America’s promise of a caring, inclusive and just democracy
اَللَّهُمَّ اَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوْبِنَا وَاَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا
وَ اهْدِنَا سُبُلَ السَّلامِ
.وَ نَجِّنَا مِنَ الظُّلُمتِ اِلَى اللنُّوْرِ
O Allah! Put affection amongst our hearts. And reform our matters between ourselves. And guide us to peaceful paths. And save us from the darkness towards the light.
We ask Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala to aid those being oppressed around the world. May He make it easy for them, have mercy on them, and bring about justice. And May He strengthen our Imaan, rectify our deeds, accept our efforts, and allow us to help in bringing about positive, effective, and significant change.
