Help Ashley fight cancer and infertility!

As many of you know, Ashley has been through hell since her endometriosis diagnosis in late 2018. You can read about the first part of the journey here .
 
Now, she has cancer – endometrial adenocarcinoma. The typical treatment includes a hysterectomy, oophorectomy, and chemo. Since Ashley is “not 60,” her treatment also includes fertility preservation, which her lovely insurance will not cover under any circumstances.
 
Ashley and her husband Roy have managed to get by with the astronomical medical costs from her past endometriosis surgeries, fertility treatment, and endless insurance denials for GYN care these last few years with help from family and credit cards, but they’re maxed out. It drained them just to get here and Ashley can’t see a future in which cancer care is an obtainable goal.
 
So we, her friends, are asking for help on her behalf. She doesn't want to have to ask, but it’s time.
 
Ashley wants to assure everyone that she will continue to work through treatment to maintain income and insurance (she cannot get on disability because her main employer, the Los Angeles Community College District, does not pay into it). She had to take medical leave from her Ph.D. program (so no stipend) and turn down two in-person courses due to the endometriosis and cancer, but she will be teaching 4 online courses this semester during treatment. She’s also searching and applying for any funding support for which she qualifies.
 
Given what Ashley has already gone through, though, we don't think Ashley should have to spend another cent of her own money on this. Her health insurance is not properly taking care of her; she has been let down by countless systems that should have caught her endometriosis, other various conditions, and now, her cancer, before now.
 
It's time for us to step up and take care of Ashley and Roy. Give what you can, when you can.
