UCLH TTP Education and research charity
Donation protected
Hi everyone, this year I have decided to raise awareness for a cause very close to my heart. In 2010 my wife was diagnosed with Congenital
Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (CTTP) which is a rare, life threatening blood disorder. Due to this and until recently she has undergone weekly blood transfusions but thankfully we are now on a new drug trial with UCLH which enable us as a couple to administer the medication weekly at home and re visit the hospital monthly.
People with congenital (also called
Inherited) TTP are born with the condition. It remains with them throughout their life. There is a mistake in the gene that tells the body how to make the enzyme ADAMST13, therefore, the ADAMST13 is missing. It affects males and females equally, and the condition is inherited from parents where each parent has half of the nonworking gene.
We cannot thank the ttp team at UCLH enough for everything they have done and continue to do for us. Due to the rarity of this condition any funds will massively help so if anybody would like to donate any pennies that would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest regards Marc & Holly
So with this, Myself & 3 of my best friends are cycling an event called 'Chase The Sun' to raise much need funds & just as important awareness of this rare blood disorder.
The event is on 22nd June this year & the four of us will be setting off to literally ‘Chase the Sun’.
The bike ride, which covers 207 miles in just one day! This starts at 4.40am (sunrise) on the Isle of Sheppey & aiming to finish before 21.30pm (sunset) giving us just under 17hrs to complete.
Thank you so much in advance for your support, from myself Marc and our team, Matthew Fox, Dave Neale & Jamie Garnish.
