Hey Everyone,
I am so excited to share with you all the opportunity I have to go to Nicaragua with Portland State University on a service and educational based trip. After writting my application essays and being interviewed, I was just recently notified of my acceptance. I applied for this specific program because it involves working with and helping the elderly in Nicaragua. Nicaragua is one of the poorest counties with underdeveloped social services and a rapidly aging population. Working with and being an advocate for the elderly is such a passion for me. As I continue my educational journey, this opportunity allows me to grow and gain perspective, specifically with the population that I want to continue to serve once I graduate. The program costs more than my financial aid and student loans can cover and most loans for studying abroad are for full semesters, I will be going for 14 days June 18 - July 2.
