Hello Friends!
It is with great excitement (and a healthy dose of trepidation) that I write to you today. I have a vision in my heart and a dream that I am working on manifesting into reality! My hope is that your heart will also resonate with my vision and that you will join me on this journey!
As many of you know, I am passionate about parenting! I am curious about kids! I LOVE learning! Especially about how to best support and nurture children, parents and families!! I am always looking for more knowledge, skills and wisdom, ways to improve my connection with my daughter, my family and friends (big and small). :)
As some of you know these last couple of years have been INTENSE for me! So many big changes! I became a mother, left my life in Colorado behind to move to a sweet, small town in Iowa where I knew no one (except for my daughter’s wonderful father), and then, most recently, transitioning out on my own as a single mama (I am beyond blessed to have the most amazing co-parent in the world and he and his family are truly still my second family despite our separation)! Becoming a mother has been the single most amazing, heart exploding AND challenging experience! It totally changed me and altered the course of my life. After going through the intense early years of parenting, one thing became vividly clear to me: We desperately need more support for young children and parents! Our culture is starving for this!

I am so excited to tell you that my desire to support children and parents has led me to enroll in the LifeWays Early Childhood Certification Program! I have been looking for a way to combine my dreams of being an exceptional mother and solid sole provider for my family, while doing work that is fulfilling for my heart and spirit. When I found this program I knew it was the one for me!
What is LifeWays, you ask? Think of it as Waldorf Training for caregivers. Here is a description of it from their web page:
"LifeWays North America provides Early Childhood Certification programs for caregivers, and parent educators to support and strengthen the growing child and family. LifeWays offers an innovative relationship-based vision for childcare for children from birth to 6 years.
One of the hallmarks of LifeWays® Child Care is the family-style approach. By caring for children in small groups of varying ages, the child's daily experience is much more natural and home-like than the institutionalized and program-oriented care that is prevalent today. This approach to child care is ideal for the healthy development of the child.
LifeWays practices are inspired by the works of Rudolf Steiner and the experience of Waldorf education and are supported by contemporary early childhood research. "

As some of you know I have been making my living by caring for children. This is the best way I have found to support myself and be with my almost 3 year old daughter, Lula, at the same time. The LifeWays training is exactly the education I am looking for to expand my caregiver “tool kit” and empower me to create a nurturing and fulfilling environment for the children in my care.
I have been collaborating with the magical Eniko Reeder, of Singing Cedars Waldorf Preschool. She is the fairy who has been whispering in my ear “Go, You can do this, You are needed in the world”! It was Eniko who introduced me to the LifeWays training and encouraged me to jump on it, NOW. Folks, this is happening fast! My training begins in Boulder, Colorado on May 23rd...1 Week from today!!!!
My program is structured with 4 week-long sessions in Boulder throughout the course of the next year. I will also be completing work at home to submit and will have a mentor guiding me throughout the process. At the end of the program, my mentor will come to observe me in the childcare program I have set up in my home. After a 2 day evaluation I will (hopefully!) receive my certification. I am thrilled to be bringing these skills and this knowledge to our community, and the world beyond! I am grateful that this will support me financially as I expand my care and responsibility with local children and families. I am honored to have been asked to be a part of the Singing Cedars team, becoming the Family Nest facilitator after my LifeWays training.
Here is where you come in...If this vision speaks to you, if you feel a connection to what I am saying, if you can help support a single mother with a vision in her heart of supporting children and parents and making a difference in the world, will you consider helping me on my journey? It’s going to take a lot to make this happen but the amazing thing about community is that “a lot” suddenly becomes “a little” in the most amazing way!
The cost ( investment! ) of my program is $4995. I have set my goal at $7000 in hopes that I can also cover my travel and lodging expenses. Any extra will be used to purchase childrens supplies for my daycare business. My goal is to have half the program cost, $2498 by the time I arrive in Boulder next Saturday May 23rd!
