In Memory of Shaun
Donation protected
On April 4th, my dad lost his 2 year battle with cancer. In his honour, I have decided to start a fundraiser to raise money to donate to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
While the past 2 years have been tough, my dad never failed to lose his charm. Through multiple surgeries and chemo rounds, he managed to do things like build his own arcade machine and buying a 3-D printer (still not too sure why). He kept up with his projects around the house until the very end; installing dash-cams and updating tech, basically whatever he thought he could improve, he did.
While we have had so much support, one (almost) positive thing that has come with such a terrible circumstance is hearing how others viewed or remembered my dad. So many people have shared stories about my dad that I never knew, but hearing them definitely made me go "ah, what a Shaun thing to do". So in true Shaun spirit, I am going to share some of my best memories of my dad.
As many of you know my dad always went full out. So when the pandemic hit and he was doing virtually all Zoom calls, what did he buy? A full on green screen. When our pup had a hurt nail, what was Shauns solution? Puppy boots. When he wanted a fresh pizza and dominos wouldn't cut it, any guesses? He got a pizza oven. When my sisters team was playing their final game for a shot at provincials, he made a banner for the team AND flags for the parents to wave (they lost by the way). Life was never boring with Shaun in it, he truly kept everyone on their toes.
So, in memory of an amazing father, husband, son, brother, uncle, colleague, and friend all donations will be going to research to fight this ugly cancer. As part of that fundraiser, anyone who donates can be sent a ring (my version of my dads bracelets). Just screenshot a photo of your donation and send it to me at emily@hope-irwin.com
Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support.
