Artist Statement:
Meeting another person is a practice, in which you may go with the flow or move forward firmly.
This painting is actually my personal love story. Now this work looks full of memories. It was created in 2017, the year I started my work after graduation. That year I worked alone in Beijing and lived alone in the dormitory of my company. My husband now went back to the United States. It is a painting that always accompanies me. Then I won't feel lonely when I pick up the paintbrush.
Two unmasked figures in the painting are us. I hope we can get through all the difficulties and be together at last.
The mask elements in the work are inspired by Venetian masks. Personally, I like all kinds of masks very much, just like all kinds of characters.
I am professional in fine brushwork, and I used exquisite brushwork to describe my state of mind at that time. Art is really a healer of the mind. No matter is happy or sad, all can appear on the paper. From the brush, everyone can find his own always.
