UFT Solidarity's Teachers Legal Aid Fund
Donation protected
We are a group of committed UFT members who are concerned about schools reopening in September. Our students and communities are at great risk.
A brave group of UFT members are willing to open a lawsuit to stop the school buildings from opening. We have a ton of courage and energy but like many New Yorkers we are strapped for cash.
For the price of 10 trips to Starbucks you can help a teacher cover part of the legal fee.
OUR COLLEAGUES AND THE CHILDREN OF NYC NEED US TO FILE THIS SUIT.
The lawyer is only charging us $5,000 FLAT. He doesn't charge by the hour for this litigation.
You may not be involved in UFT politics like I am but I can tell you that the City is watching us right now. They know that UFT Solidarity, a union group that does not collect dues, is looking to file an injunction to stop city schools from opening. Teachers in Westchester and Long Island are looking to us as well.
Any kind of court action is nothing to scoff or laugh at. The court systems in New York are the most robust anywhere in the world and can provide a powerful check on any government action. The health and safety of our students are counting on us pushing to close the schools by legal action.
If you love public schools, know a teacher, care about the health of NYC, please consider donating.
