As a Clinical Officer, Wefwafwa is responsible for treating and managing diseases in community members who do not have access to healthcare services either because they are residentially rural or lack the resources and finances to travel to a hospital.
In honor of Wefwafwa's work, we are hosting this event to commemorate and showcase his work and passion for people and medicine. At the event, we are holding a live session and several viewings of a video put together that highlights Wefwafwa's passion and drive.
Uganda: Home of the World Event
Our event came together and we had an amazing turnout. Nearly 100 students and faculty came to the live session and three screenings. Wefwafwa joined us over Zoom as he talked to an international audience in the United States for the first time. We had an amazing time listening to his story, and the students were moved and touched by his efforts to treat and serve his rural community.
A personal thank you goes to each person who attended and showed support for raising awareness for malaria. Additionally, those who donated to the Buwanga Way to Health Foundation are blessed as we will close our GoFundMe and send 100% of the proceeds to Wefwafwa's NGO foundation. He plans to use the donations to purchase the community's first microscope and respective materials (slides, etc.) which will allow him to diagnose malaria in rural Uganda rather than drive members to the city to be tested.
Your efforts and donations brought Wefwafwa one step closer to helping the people of his community and establishing a hospital for their village. One day, as Wefwafwa hopes—the community will be self-sufficient and practice self-sustainable food production and medical care for those whose hearts Wefwafwa Andrew touches.
