Hi everybody,
Thanks for dropping by to support my page. For those of you who dont know me, my name is Zen. I'm a 20-something year old and I'm trying to self fund a relief expedition to Nepal to teach the locals urban farming.
Now I know what some of the cynics out there are thinking, 'Oh no, not another bleeding heart'... but if you spare me just a few minutes of your time I hope to explain to you just how needed and overlooked a project like this really is.
We've all heard of the aftermaths of natural disasters in developing countries. Its all well and good while the aid lasts but shortly after we almost always hear of famine poverty and disease due to a shortage of aid.
The nation needs to start rebuilding its morale before the onset of the Himalyan winter. My plan is simple and pragmatic. I aim to get on the ground and show people ways they can grow their own fruit and vegetables in a limited space using very little resource or scrap. This will alleviate the strain on the aid being provided.
I hope to demonstrate how to increase local food production quickly to face the coming months when there will be a lack of jobs.
I dont want to get in the way of immediate relief efforts so I am aiming to get my boots on the ground in July. I am primarily looking at problems that arise in the future and implementing easy solutions before the problem turns into a catastrophe. Yes, I am an Engineer.
By teaching ordinary people who have lost their livelihoods how to become more self sufficient I hope to be able to make a difference.
