Help Marie live a normal life

Hi, my name is Martin, and I have created this fundraiser to help my dear friend Marie with her legal fees for compensation due to an incident that occurred whilst in the care of a well trusted support worker.

I (Martin) am one of the many support workers that helps Marie live her life independently.

I have been supporting Marie for over 4 years with her daily living duties. I have been a close friend to Marie and her partner Zeke for over 30 years.

About Marie

Marie 49, lives with many disabilities that already impact her Quality Of Life.

Marie is limited in her body movement and her muscle strength. Marie requires manual handling assistance to stand up or sit down. But once Marie is on her feet or holding onto a railing, look out, there's no stopping her with her walking cane. Marie loves travelling the world, doing adventurous things such as indoor sky diving, being a passenger in a rally car / V8 Supercar, and even volunteering for a day at an Elephant sanctuary in Thailand.

Marie has always been an outspoken person, fun and always the life of the party,

That all changed earlier in the year.

In February 2023 Marie had a fall whilst in the care of a support worker.

Marie fell backwards off the steps of a building and landed onto a cement floor hitting the back of her head. This resulted in Marie having a fractured skull. The recovery time can be anywhere from 3 - 6 months or even longer.

Due to this fall, Marie has now developed new issues which are

impacting her Quality of Life.

These include:

Loss of sense of taste

Loss of sense of smell

Panic attacks

Memory loss

Anxiety and fear of leaving the house

Anxiety and fear of steps/stairs

Trusting of people

Mental fatigue

Paranoia

Marie is now facing many months of different therapies to overcome these newly developed issues.

Unfortunately, these therapies are within the private health sector of NSW, and are quite expensive

Therefore Marie has decided to raise a legal case seeking compensation from the accident to cover the cost of these new private therapies.

A law firm has agreed to take on Marie's case but at a cost of AU$25,000 (twenty-five thousand dollars)
