My longtime friend Shawna Jensen Garguile messaged me this evening. With tons of hope in mind, I'm putting this out there to help alleviate some stresses for their family during this difficult time. Shawna has been diagnosed with something that can be better described by her below. Shawna has 3 beautiful children; Liam, Lucia, and Madelynne. She's married to one awesome guy, Dominic Garguile. She's always been an inspiration to me. She's helped me through some of my most difficult times and I would like for her to get back what she is always giving. She's blessed or inspired me over and over with her time-her ear-her wisdom-her spark-her laugh-the no bullshit attitude-her work ethic-her fight-her career-her love-her commitment to her husband and babies-she and her family have always opened their hearts and homes to me regardless of the time passed. We want to help them out anyway we can. This is a start.
Here is her story...
I was just diagnosed with a choriocarcinoma that has likely been around since I gave birth to Madelynne, 16m ago. It has caused a tumor in my heart as well as several in my lungs and one in the outer lining of my brain. This is typically very treatable with chemo. We will be following my hcg levels daily while I'm getting my first round at Kaiser Modesto. I'll need multiple doses of the chemo 2-4 wks apart and we should start seeing results soon. I'm in good hands but the main risks right now are the cardiac tumor moving or breaking up, it's in my atrium so stroke is the most likely risk, and then a bleed risk with my brain tumor since technically these are similar to placenta and bleed like crazy.
...These are obviously extremely difficult times and any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for your kind words and donations. ❤️
