My name is Ronnie del Barrio, Administrative & Creative Director of Philippine Baranggay Folk Dance Troupe (PB) – the longest-running Philippine cultural performance troupe of its kind — founded at the Philippine Normal University, Manila, in 1946, by the late Dr Paz Cielo Angeles-Belmonte (aka Mommy Bel), with the aim of promoting our Philippine cultural heritage of indigenous and traditional dance through music song and dances.

Education has been at the core of PB’s mission since the beginning with countless generations of students and teachers learning the unique and powerful skills of traditional dance, music and performance, and we pride ourselves on our volunteer group of active and alumni members who everyday strive to carrying forward Mommy Bel’s vision to the best of their abilities.

It is with great excitement that we accepted an official invitation to take part in the Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance 2023 in the United Kingdom representing the Philippines — this will be the 2nd time for PB to take part, following its 1st appearance at the festival 30 years ago back in 1993.

As a non-profit voluntary group we rely entirely on our network of families, friends, supporters and sponsors for donations and support to make our young members dream of travelling to the UK this summer a reality. It’s therefore our hope that we can appeal to you to take part in our journey by supporting our efforts to bring a 20 strong team of dancers and musicians to the stage in Billingham — we welcome donations and sponsorship of any amount.
